City Council Meeting - May 19, 2008

At the May 19, 2008 City Council meeting, among other things, the council will be considering items related to:

1) A project regarding a relocation of an existing commercial business and the addition of a potential new sit-down restaurant on Jefferson Street on the north side of I-70.

2) Approval of Planning Commission appointments/reappointments.

3) Calling a special election on August 5, 2008 on a voter-approved issuance of combined waterworks and sewerage system revenue bonds (payable from the net revenues from the operation of the system and not from property taxes) in the amount of $35,000,000 for the purpose of improving and expanding the City’s existing sewer treatment plant.

4) Calling for a special election on August 5, 2008 on a voter-approved issuance of general obligation bonds in the amount of $28,000,000 for the purpose of
    (a) widening and improving Woods Chapel Road,
    (b) improving Duncan Road at the Woods Chapel Road/R.D. Mize Road intersection,
    (c) extending Moreland School Road to Liggett Road,
    (d) improving the Colbern Road and Highway 7 intersection.

5) Hold a discussion regarding the 2008-2009 Community Development Block Grant Action Plan.

6) Considering a bill declaring a 90 day moratorium on multi-family housing.

I sure hope that Mayor Ross will  present the planning commission appointments individually on May 19th. The council members actually received a larger percentage of votes than the Mayor did! We need to get on with business, so do hope he selects to cooperate with the council. There are seven people, not just one to help run our city government.
