KMart Redevelopment Proposal

by Jeff Quibell 24. June 2008 17:48

Many of our residents would like to see the K-Mart building at 40 and 7 Highways redeveloped.  For many years nothing could be done because the building was tied up in K-Mart's bankruptcy proceedings.  A little over a year ago the K-Mart property was acquired by Tri-Land Properties.  They are in discussions with the city regarding redeveloping the K-Mart.  While not yet approved, it is exciting to see some activity beginning to happen with this long vacant property.  More information is available at the following link: http://www.bluespringsedc.com/news.asp?id=64.

The proposal can be seen at http://www.trilandproperties.com/retail/bluesprings/marketing.pdf

This is great to see but how soon will we actually see progress??? Blue Springs officals con't to tell us what great redevlopement projects will be coming to town and then for one reason or another they either fail to get approved or never are buildt.  I for one am tierd of being teased about upcoming devlopment....just make it happen!!!  We are not a small farming town any more...hello it is 2008!!

I HAVE LIVED IN BLUE SPRINGS FOR 8 YRS.  FOR THE MAJORITY OF THAT TIME, THERE HAS BEEN NO GROCERY STORE ON THE NW SIDE OF BLUE SPRINGS.  I HAVE BEEN GIVING MY MONEY TO INDEPENDENCE OR LEE'S SUMMIT. I DONT LIKE THE TRAVEL TIME WITH ALL THE TRAFFIC ON WOODSCHAPEL.  IT TAKES WAY TO LONG TO MAKE IT TO YOUR DESTINATION.  I VOTED FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MAN THAT WON BECAUSE HE SAID HE WAS WORKING ON GETTING SOME DEVELOPMENT STARTED ON THIS SIDE OF TOWN.
WHAT HAPPENEND!!!!!!
