100+ Women Who Care

by Jeff Quibell 9. November 2008 17:08

Recently a local Blue Springs friend passed on information regarding a new charity fund raising group forming in the area called 100+ Women Who Care.  Following is an informational letter about the group from one of its organizers, Sue Hartzheim.

============================================================

100+ Women Who Care is coming to Kansas City and I am privileged to be a part of this amazing opportunity to change the lives of people who live in our community.

Let me give you the basics.

100+ Women Who Care TM is exactly that - a group of 100+ women who care deeply about our community.  The original chapter, located in Jackson, MI, gathers four times annually and each member writes a $100 check to the same charity.  This donation is intended to make an impact.  Our mission and our hope is to provide for those in greatest need.

The Rules

  • Each member must commit to donating $100 per meeting ($400 per year)
  • If you are unable to attend - give your check to a member to deliver on your behalf - your check will also be your proxy vote.
  • The donations will be given to Kansas City charities/non-profit/worthy causes serving the metropolitan area
  • Only charities/non-profits/worthy causes that benefit people will be considered
  • By ballot, the group will vote, the majority rules - even if you don't care for the choice - you still must donate
  • Each charity/program/non-profit that is under consideration will be given 5 minutes to make a presentation at the meeting.  This presentation will be made by a member of the 100+ Women Who Care TM - not by the charity/program/non-profit.
  • No national charities will be considered.  The purpose is for 100% of the contribution to stay in the community
  • Only three charities/programs/non-profit will be presented at the meeting.  If there is an immediate emergency need at the time of the meeting, that need can be presented as one of the choices.
  • If a charity/program/non-profit is not selected it will be put back in the drawing again for the next meeting
  • The charity/program/non-profit will have to agree NOT to use the names for future solicitations or give the information out to the public.  If the charity does not adhere to this condition they will be removed from any future considerations.

KC Chapter

All meetings will be held in the Conservation Room at the Bass Pro in Independence from 6 – 7pm.  Meeting dates for the next year are Nov 12th, Feb 11th, May 13th, and Aug 12th

If this is something you are interested please let me know and I will send you a sign up form.  Also, please send me your preferred email address if this one is not correct.

My goal is to have 100 women by the time we meet in November so please help me spread the word!

Thanks

Sue
