Truman Heartland Community Foundation Gala - Heartland Humanitarians of the Year – David Jeter and Jim Kidwell - Save the Date!

The Truman Heartland Community Foundation Gala is on September 26th this year and will honor two people for the Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Heartland Humanitarians of the Year – David Jeter and Jim Kidwell

The 2009 Heartland Humanitarians of the Year share common bonds that make them truly exceptional individuals and deserving recipients.  They have each enjoyed successful careers in Eastern Jackson County and have donated countless hours and funds to deserving charities.  Even more significantly, they are each organ transplant recipients who continue to work for their communities.

David Jeter serves as a Board Member for Gift of Life and is a Life Mentor for transplant recipients.  David had the original idea for the Life Mentor program, which offers encouragement and support to those waiting for a transplant, new transplant recipients and their family members.  Dave also serves as coordinator for all heart recipients.  As a retired attorney, he offers expertise on estate planning and encourages donors to create lasting legacy gifts.

Jim Kidwell is known for his generous support of organizations such as Sunshine Center and Hope House.  Over the years numerous causes benefiting women and children have been the recipient of his generosity.  Recently, he not only provided the excavating for the Porter Children’s Playground, he spearheaded the fundraising efforts to complete the project.   Jim Kidwell Construction received the THCF 2002 Corporate Citizen Award.
