Hy-Vee to present a $15,000 check to The Wall That Heals – Blue Springs, Mo.
BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The City of Blue Springs, Blue Springs Public Art Commission, Blue Springs School District and area businesses and veterans’ organizations have formed a partnership to bring the traveling exhibition of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to Pink Hill Park Thursday, Sept. 30 to Sunday, Oct. 3.
Hy-Vee, an employee-owned supermarket chain, has agreed to be a lead partner for the event. Steve Molosak, the Blue Springs store director, will present a $15,000 check on behalf of the entire Kansas City area Hy-Vee store group to Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross on Tuesday, September 7, in a special ceremony at 10 a.m. The check presentation will be in front of Blue Springs City Hall, 903 W. Main Street.
“We are honored to be a lead partner in this event for our Blue Springs community and for all Kansas City area Vietnam Veterans,” said Nancy Pagel, Kansas City Hy-Vee Marketing Director, a company known for extending into the neighborhoods and communities they serve. “Hy-Vee stores have a long history of honoring Veterans and this is just one more way we can give thanks for their service to our country.”
“We are grateful to Hy-Vee for being one of the lead partners of The Wall That Heals event. Hy-Vee has been an excellent corporate partner in many Blue Springs community events. Thank you again to Hy-Vee for helping us say, ‘Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans, Welcome Home’,” said Mayor Carson Ross.
“The Vietnam memorial has inspired and healed many people. But not everyone can get to Washington, D.C. to see it. So, we’ve worked for many years to bring it here,” says Eleanor Frasier, chairman of the Public Art Commission. “We invite all Vietnam War veterans to come see The Wall That Heals in Blue Springs, and all parents and children to participate in the events to learn about this important time in America’s history.”
The funding for the Blue Springs “The Wall That Heals” is all by donations. All funds are set up with the Truman Heartland Community Foundation, a 501-C-3 organization.
