BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. (September 7, 2010) – StandUp Blue Springs will host its seventh annual Princess Party to raise funds for its flagship program Dental for Kids, from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at Valley View High School, located at 5000 N.W. Valley View Road, Blue Springs, MO 64015.
Young ladies ages 2-to-12 will be the royal guests of honor at the seventh annual Princess Party. A visit with the Tooth Fairy, the Sparkle Smile Academy featuring the Royal Puppets, a Princess concert, primping and crafts are a few of the 15 activities offered at the Princess Party.
“The Tooth Fairy meets each princess and gives them their very own royal toothbrush,” said Executive Director Monica Meeks. “Last year, a young girl was so excited after she received her toothbrush because she did not have to share one anymore. That is just one example of the importance of our programs and how they directly impact the children in our community.”
Dental for Kids provides free dental care, dental education and supplies to 2,300 children and teens in need each year who live in the Blue Springs School District, which includes Blue Springs, Lake Tapawingo, and portions of Independence, Grain Valley and Lee’s Summit. Since the launch of the program in 2003, local volunteer dentists have donated nearly $400,000 worth of free care, but funds are needed to pay for dental education, supplies, case management and other program costs.
The cost to attend the Princess Party is $15 for children and $5 for each adult companion. Tickets can be purchased at the door or ordered in advance beginning in September through the StandUp Blue Springs website. Discounts are available for online and advance purchases. Optional activities cost an additional fee and low-cost snacks will be sold.
Dental for Kids is a program of the local nonprofit agency, StandUp Blue Springs, which engages adults and teens in Eastern Jackson County in health, safety and community enrichment initiatives.
