For more information.......... | | Pooches in the Pool, It's For the Dogs A great day was had by all, especially the dogs, at the Pooches in the Pool event at Centennial Pool. A total of 116 dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds enjoyed the pool water. This event was planned for dogs to enjoy the water, and other dogs, but also to generate funds for the city's off-leash dog park located at Grounds Park. With the end of the summer outdoor pool season, this was a great activity to have prior to the draining of the pool. Besides jumping into the main pool to swim, the dogs were able to play in the wading pools water features and also encouraged to go down the water slide. A total of $765.00 was raised during the event. If you want to contribute toward the off-leash dog park, please contact us at 816-228-0137. For more information on our off-leash dog park and RUFF (Responsible Unleashed Fun for Fido, you can visit their website at www.ruffbluesprings.org. Dog Park Benefits: Dog parks build community - Neighbors get to know each other, which leads to civic involvement and stronger neighborhoods. Dog parks promote good canine citizens - Well-exercised, well-socialized dogs are far less likely to be aggressive or develop undesirable behaviors. Dog parks provide a safe place for elderly and disabled citizens to exercise their dogs. Dog parks provide opportunities to educate the public in dog behavior and responsible pet ownership. Dog parks prevent conflicts between dog owners and park user groups such as joggers or small children. Dog parks encourage compliance with leash laws. | | "Big O's" BBQ Team is Barbeque Blaze-Off Grand Champion
