Kansas City, Mo. – Some of the scars left after breast cancer treatment go unseen. Many women don’t realize that in addition to the many physical changes they’ll experience, breast cancer also takes a toll on relationship intimacy. Yet retaining intimacy in a relationship is an essential part of overall recovery.

St. Mary’s Medical Center will host a free seminar, Are We Talking Enough? Survivorship and Sexuality, featuring Barbara Rabinowitz, PhD, MSW, RN, on Thursday, October 27, 7-9 a.m., in the Education Center on St. Mary’s campus. A continental breakfast will be served.

Dr. Rabinowitz founded the National Consortium of Breast Centers and is the first woman and first
non-physician President of the American Society of Breast Disease. She served as co-chair of the Psychosocial/Nursing Advisory Group to the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research and was later appointed by Governor Whitman as the first commissioner to the New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research from a psychosocial discipline.

This event is free, but seating is limited; please call 816-228-3335 to reserve a seat.
